Can you tell something about the crops and the concept that you put on the market?

We have been growing ornamental grasses for 15 years. Initially only a few types but we have expanded over the years. We now grow ornamental grasses in 4 pot sizes: 2, 3, 5 and 10 litre pots. Mainly for the visual market! The ornamental grasses concept that we deliver is in a square-round 2 litre pot. This concept was partly created by the demand from the market whether we could offer a year-round program in ornamental grasses.

How did you come up with the idea for this cultivation and this concept?

We have been growing ornamental grasses for 15 years. Initially only a few types but we have expanded over the years. We now grow ornamental grasses in 4 pot sizes: 2, 3, 5 and 10 litre pots. What do you see as your strengths and your added value for your customers?

Thanks to our specialisation, we can deliver a strong visual grasses concept throughout the year. This enables us to guarantee that the tables remain optimally filled in a good composition and consistent quality. This relieves the customers. Furthermore, the possibility to order small quantities per type, so that the table remains full with as few risks as possible. If a customer chooses your concept, you should try to reinforce each other. After all, you are an extension of each other and both parties benefit from a good result.

What did you do to optimally present your concept at the garden centre?

We have developed a whole new line of labels for this concept. We have opted for an exclusive look, with which you try to be more distinctive towards the consumer. This in combination with a good product, because this remains essential. Presenting the products in such a way that it invites the consumer to come to the table and buy the product.

How important are the presentation racks for the sales tables to you?

The presentation racks in the tables are very important. Because of the racks, the plants are all at a fixed size, which creates a lot of peace on your table. By making the gaps in the racks not too tight, the crops are not on top of or against each other, which gives a much better appearance to the whole. In addition, when the plants are in the racks, they are less likely to fall over. This makes the presentation look much better, even if plants from the middle of the table are sold. In addition, it has been found that you are far less likely to experience desiccation and loss.

Do you have any advice for your target group?

You have to try to keep the table full with mainly visual types, not just in the spring but especially in summer and autumn. It is also important that you present the layout of the table in the best possible way, by making good use of the different colour accents of the types. This will further optimize your return per square meter on an annual basis.
